Hey Hey Hey,
Finally A post I was DYING to post....Soooo are you excited to know how did I magically change the loose baggy dress into an Awesome peplum dress??? then keep reading...
This dress was given to me by my lovey Aunt when she wanted to throw this away... n then I SEE BEAUTY IN THE DARK.. OR RATHER DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!! :P . The truth is that this was her nightie and she never used it!! so when she was planing to dump this, she asked me if I wanted this in the fun way, she though she was trying to irritate me.. but in turn I was happy and said WOW thank you..love it!! :P
teehee.. OK.. so enough of my "how I met the RED NIGHTIE" story.. and lets begin with the DIY!!
Soo for the all the starters in sewing business you really do not need a sewing machine for this.. simple plain running stitch will do too( yes, the same boring stitch we learnt in school)..
Cut through the dress keeping in mind the length or the top and skirt. (plan well because you cant undo it)
For the top cut exactly like the lines illustrated and sew on the edge.( it slants out from the armhole to get the peplum effect, you will see)
For the skirt, measure the hips and and keep about 4-5" bigger on the waist and fold over the green line and sew to insert and elastic....ahhh!! I tried to simplify this...if you have any questions leave them in the comments.. :)
NOW YOU ARE WONDERING WHERES THE PEPLUM???
well just throw a belt either a chunky one or a skinny...trust me the peplum will form itself..
TAILORING TIPS: always finished the hems, raw edges are not pretty!!
Now for some before and after pictures..
TAAADAAA...
